Entry of the Day - Caerphilly Castle
1. Caerphilly Castle
 [Related Image]

A 13th century castle in the town of Caerphilly. It is the second largest castle in Britain after Windsor Castle.

The following Knightmare scenes were filmed at Caerphilly Castle:

[Related Image] The end credits of Series 5 episode 10 featured an Eyeshield sequence crossing the moat and approaching the Main Outer Gatehouse, between the two dams on the east side of the castle.

[Related Image] Team 4 of Series 6 met Julius Scaramonger in front of this entrance, trading a gem for a dubious spell scroll in the penultimate scene of their quest.

[Related Image] An Eyeshield sequence led Team 6 of Series 5 through the ground floor of the state apartments, situated by the South-West Tower.

[Related Image] These apartments appeared several times in Series 5, once as a Level 2 clue room. Team 8 had to illuminate the room with a candle, while Team 4 found a mysterious rope hanging down from the sky.
Advisor: "Shall we try climbing up the rope?"
Treguard: "No, I think there's a door at the far left there...!" (The door leads into the Great Hall.)

[Related Image] The room was seen from a different angle when Team 2 of Series 6 found Elita trying to prepare a ritual there.

[Related Image] The West Gatehouse was among the locations visible through the windows of the Descender during the end credits of Series 5 episode 11.

Caerphilly Castle is now in the care of Cadw and is open to the public. Click here to visit the website.
