After dungeoneer Karen (Team 13 of Series 2) "exploded" Bumptious the miner by falling onto his plunger, he twice called her a blackleg. A blackleg is an employee who continues working during a strike. During the British Miners' Strike of the mid-1980s, blackleg miners offended those on strike, contributing to in-fighting among the miners. So while there was no relevance to Bumptious calling Karen a blackleg, it seems his use of the term was a reference to his real-life counterparts and what they might have regarded as a significant insult around that time.
