'Season' is often used by fans in preference to 'series' when referring to different periods of Knightmare or the RPG.

The term is American, as Americans prefer to say "Season 1" to "Series 1". Most Knightmare fans probably use 'Season' because of Johnny Burkhart's usage of the term on The Homepage Of Knightmare.

The word season was used on occasion by Knightmare characters to refer to a "phase of the Dungeon" and period of adventuring. Lord Fear used it at the opening of Series 7 ("...the hunt is on, the season has begun..."), as did Treguard after that series' third quest (i.e. Team 3 of Series 7) had failed.
