Runius is an
oracle featured in Activision's 1987
Knightmare computer game, who appears as a grey-bearded face in the top left corner of the screen during gameplay. According to
Treguard's introductory poem in the game's instruction manual, Runius is an oracle of good fame, and this is borne out by his practical and constructive pieces of advice, such as: 'What you wish to use must be in your possession' (for the game's command menu allows the player to select objects he has yet to encounter or acquire).
Runius, like his oracular counterpart
Buggane, has a name with a Manx connection, for the church of Saint Runius can be found on the Isle of Man.
