An area of loose, wet, deep sand. Heavy objects sink into quicksand... like the dungeoneer Gavin from Team 1 of Series 3, who strayed from the path through the Vale of Vanburn into what turned out to be a green patch of the stuff, and couldn't escape, bringing an end to his quest.
