Mellisandre's
middle name. The word originated as a synonym of peacemaker. There is a renowned precedent for having Makepeace as a middle name, i.e. the 19th century author William Makepeace Thackeray, but this may merely be coincidence.
Rather than sharing her full name with

Melly revealed the following to her:
"My first name is Mellisandre. And my second name's Perhappenstance. I've got a middle name, but I don't like it much so I've stopped telling it to people."
