David, who played Ghutlar, drew inspiration from Grotbags' assistant Croc, Buffy The Vampire Slayer's Dalton and The League Of Gentlemen's Barrington "Barry" Baggs. The monstrously servile and creepy character that emerged, while enjoyed by some other cast members, was considered by David too disturbing to play again.
