Entry of the Day - The Wizard of Oz

1. The Wizard of Oz

Popular 1939 musical film based on L. Frank Baum's 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Like Knightmare, the film features a young person being helped through a fantasy land by three companions, encountering hostility from witches and flying creatures, meeting a (supposed) wizard and eventually returning home.

One of the songs in the film is <i>We're Off To See The Wizard</i>. It's quoted by the Oracle to Team 4 of Series 3. At first seeming to refer to Leo's forthcoming encounter with Merlin, she then recites some of the song's lyrics. Her repetition of "because" prompts Treguard to suggest that the Oracle has "descended into drivel".
