Entry of the Day - astrolabe
1. astrolabe
A 16th century nautical device that determined latitude by taking the altitude of the sun, moon and stars, thereby helping with navigation. Team 5 of Series 6 retrieved an astrolabe from Ariadne's lair for Captain Nemanor of the Cloudwalker, who then helped them proceed.

Nemanor's desire for an astrolabe is also mentioned in the fanfic Eastern Promise by Rosey Collins, first published in The Eye Shield.

Treguard, during his sea voyage in The Sorcerer's Isle novella, uses a navigational tool whose description suggests an astrolabe.

Not to be confused with an Astro Farm.
